Pairing Sites

Before you can deploy content, your WordPress sites need to be paired. Pairing establishes a secure connection between two SirSync installations so they can communicate with each other.

Each site must be paired with the other. During the pairing process, you’ll generate a one-time connection code on one site and use it to establish the connection on the other.

Step 1: Generate a Connection Code

On the site you want to connect:

1. Navigate to Tools > SirSync.
2. Under This Site’s Connection, click Generate Connection Code.
3. Copy the generated one-time connection code.

This code is temporary and is only used when pairing sites.

Step 2: Connect the Remote Site

On the second WordPress site:

1. Navigate to Tools > SirSync.
2. Paste the connection code into the Remote Connection Code field.
3. Select the environment for This Site’s Environment:
   • Stage – A staging or development website.
   • Production – Your live website.
4. Select the environment for the Remote Peer’s Environment.
5. (Optional) Enter one or more email addresses to receive deployment notifications.
6. Click Save Changes.

SirSync will validate the connection code and securely pair the two websites.

Step 3: Verify the Connection

After the connection is established, the Remote Connection Code field will be replaced with a Remote Connected URL field.

This lets you quickly verify which website is connected without needing to generate another connection code.

If you ever need to connect to a different website, click Disconnect Site to remove the existing connection before pairing a new site.

Understanding Site Environments

SirSync uses the selected environments for deployment history, activity logs, and notifications so you can easily identify which website initiated a deployment and where the content was sent.

For example, if you’re deploying changes from your staging site to your live site, the deployment history will clearly indicate that the deployment originated from the Stage environment and was sent to the Production environment.
